A Montana girl, I feel right at home south of the border in the Cowboy State. While Jackson Hole remains most popular during the ski season, the endless blue skies, mountain peaks and summer wild flowers with names like Indian Paintbrush and Mountain Lady Slipper make it my favorite to visit in summer. A journey to the last of the wild west requires an ambitious nature-loving adventurer. Nothing could be better than wilderness trekking and spotting a moose while riding through Grand Teton National Park on horseback, thrill seeking on a whitewater trip down the Snake River, or following in Teddy Roosevelt's footsteps with a day trip through Yellowstone National Park. A bit corny, but every bit good old-fashioned American kitsch, a chuckwagon dinner with kids in tow is at the top of my all time good fun list. The looks in the eyes of anyone under ten as our wagon was overtaken by actors playing Cowboys and Indians remains front and center in my memory fifteen years later. The food scene in Jackson Hole is hip and insanely delicious. If you are a beef-eating omnivore, Jackson Hole is paradise found.
