Weston Table, Privateer & Team Hot Shot Tenacity Event
Ipswich, Massachusetts

Yo-ho-ho, and forty guests gather in Ipswich for a rum tour and tasting designed to support Tenacity's new fundraising format. Abandoning its annual gala, Tenacity's Acting Chief Philanthropic Officer, Philip Millburn, explained is a risky move, but getting out of the ballroom and onto the courts, the new Grand Slam Cup format has the advantage of demonstrating Tenacity's direct impact on the 6,000 Boston area youth participating in its literacy and fitness programs. On June 21st, Tenacity will pair Boston kids with high level recreational players such as those on Team Hot Shot and professional tennis players in a round robin format at Longwood Cricket Club. One distillery guest, Seema Peterson, grew up in India, in a family that loved sports, especially tennis. But despite that, there were no opportunities for her, a girl, to play. She notes she found these opportunities very late in life. Seema shared, "The sport has brought a tremendous amount of joy to me. I love getting on the court, setting up goals and challenges or just simply hitting. Above all, I have met so many wonderful people, many of whom are now close friends."  Jennifer Cunningham, a Team Hot Shot player, teamed up with Weston Table & Privateer Rum Distillery to help Tenacity reach its $800,000 fundraising goal and raise awareness that "nothing levels the playing field more than education". This event showcased the power of collaboration. When individuals, corporations, and organizations collaborate, the community is strengthened and we are all winners.
