Longchamp Turning Oyster Plate & Platter Set Circa 1880

1,500.00

A 19th century hand painted French green, brown & ivory set of 8 oyster plates with 6 reliefs each & coordinating platter with 12 reliefs for bivalves.

In 1847, Robert Charbonnier founded Longchamp tile works and specialized in manufacturing red clay tiles. Shortly after, the factory started to produce majolica. It was particularly appreciated for barbotine pieces with vivid colors and great reliefs. This beautiful oyster plate is a fine example of the detail and artisanship the Longchamp mold produced.
