The Wild Rabbit

All honey colored stone on the outside and a warm glow cast from year round the diningroom’s puffing fireplacer, The Wild Rabbit’s locally sourced gastronomic offerings are served in n 18th century stone walled dining room replete with English charm. The menu changes with availability but meats are cooked over charcoal year round and tasty seasonal organic greens are plate art work picked daily from their own gardens. Nothing on this Michelin award winning restaurant disappoints. Save room for dessert. Traditional English puddings and pastries are worth the dietary splurge. Eat up and then take a long English country walk through this charming thatched roof village with rose clad cottages, rolling hills, and distinctive architecture.

So why venture out of London and to the Cotswolds? If for no other reason, book a table in this unremittingly pretty part of England (an hour and a half from London) during the annual spring bank holiday, and grin from the sidelines as the locals chase cheese—literally! A wheel of double Gloucester cheese is rolled down a steep slope, Cooper’s Hill, risking life and limb of participants but all in the name of innocent mayhem, English eccentricity and some old-fashioned good fun.
